SUMMARY:Recognizing and Disrupting Workplace Discrimination
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this course is to educate employees on the definition of discrimination and harassment under the law. The course also provides an overview of the rights and responsibilities of employees and management\, by providing examples of behavior that constitutes harassment as well as providing prevention guidelines. Harassment rooted in bias represents one of the most destructive workplace issues faced by public and private employers today. Discrimination\, the act of prejudicial treatment based on race\, color\, sexual orientation\, national origin\, religion\, gender\, disability\, age among others\, can create workplace liability. Harassment can manifest in jokes\, negative stereotyping\, hostile acts or simple thoughtless comments. The ultimate outcome is the same: legal liability\, profound emotional stress\, lower employee morale and reduced productivity.

SUMMARY:Measuring the Success of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Programs
DESCRIPTION:Discussions about diversity\, equity\, and inclusion (DE&I) are center stage in organizations and communities. The question is\, why does it take video coverage of acts of social injustice to elevate its importance? The conversation about DE&I is not new – it’s just that DE&I is a topic where attention ebbs and flows. When inequities and bad behavior risk or damage individual or organizational reputation\, microscopic focus ensues. When things seem to rock along smoothly\, focus moves elsewhere. Organization leaders pledge hundreds of millions of dollars to commission studies\, launch training sessions\, and hire consultants and diversity czars. But is it working? Some experts argue that despite decades of handwringing\, costly initiatives\, and uncomfortable conversations\, organizations have\, apart from a few exceptions\, fallen far short of their goals. \nRenewed interest in DE&I is prompting organization leaders to reflect on the progress (or lack of progress) they have made with these efforts. As one Wall Street Journal article states\, “It’s time to move from saying\, “We need to do this” to asking\, “What are we doing with this?” Showing the value of DE&I investments can be challenging for some professionals. This session will describe how to measure the success of DE&I programs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAttendees will learn\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to identify the five levels of outcomes from DE&I programs.\nHow to explain the need to deliver impact and ROI for selected DE&I programs.\nHow to design DE&I programs to deliver application\, impact\, and ROI\, using design thinking principles.\nHow to plan the next steps to ensure DE&I programs delivers value.
