The processing sector is a major economic contributor to rural communities and the PEI economy. Over 2000 employees work hard to produce PEI’s top-quality seafood. The value of PEI seafood exports in 2019 amounted to $280,754,000. The tax revenue from this economic activity helps to support government’s programing in health, education and infrastructure.
